Who I Teach
- I enjoy working with kids and adults, ages 5 and up.
- I have a B.M. in Music from Cornish College of the Arts and 3 years experience teaching music. Click to view Resume
- I teach songwriting, voice, and beginning and intermediate guitar for students who want to play folk, rock, and pop songs on the acoustic guitar.
- Some of my students want to be the next Ani Difranco or Bob Dylan while others dream of strumming Cat Stevens songs for their 1st grade class. I love exploring what each student wants to learn.
How I make it fun
I will teach you the songs you love
Before your first lesson we will discuss the music you want to learn. Then I will design a course of study that covers the fundamentals of voice and guitar and have you playing correctly, with no pain and all fun!
I explore the music with you
Do you want to know why that chord progression rocks? Why it sounds so great when you sing that note over that chord, I am able and willing to delve into any subject, so that we can explore music’s every aspect.
Student Showcases
Twice a year I host a student showcase of original and cover tunes performed by the students.
This performance is truly a blast! It is an opportunity for students to deal with stage fright, microphones, P.A. systems and audiences. Students arrive early to learn about how to set up a gig, how to avoid feedback and how to do a sound check, then the light dim and show begins!. Plus it’s my way of letting the community hear the FABOULOUS songs I have been hearing in our lessons.
