Have a House Concert
Did you know you could have an awesome concert in your own house? Do you have a friend, a family member, or a company that might be interested in hosting a concert and has a space to do it in? House concerts are intimate, easy to set up, really entertaining and they are a wonderful way to make a profit and see a musical concert at the same time! If you are interested, please contact Tai Shan here.
The Details
- When I come to your living room, apartment, or backyard to play a house concert, I will bring a small P.A. system.
- I play two full sets of music with one intermission.
- After the show I’ll be around to sign CDs and get to know everyone even better.
- All I need from you is 25 of your friends and or co-workers at your house for an amazing show!
The Concert Fee:
- Each audience member donates $15-$25 for the performance. There must be a minimum of 20 guests at $15 per person.
- Some of our hosts like to make it free to their guests and pay per person attending. Others like charging less per ticket and making up the difference. Either way works great.
- It’s a good idea to invite everyone from co-workers, to good friends, neighbors, and even people you may not talk to all that often. You’ll be surprised how many people will hear about the show later and wish that they had been able to come.
Tips for the Best Possible House Concert
- Send out emails or evites to friends as invitations.
- One creative host made a CD and sent it out to her guests.
- Another host put several songs up on his website and Myspace
- An invitation email and flyer will be sent after we schedule the concert.
- Collect the donation from each person before the evening of the show.
- Many hosts ask for checks made out to Tai Shan to be mailed to their house. Advance reservations are easier than collecting money the night of the show.
- The more “concert-like” the environment, the better.
- I suggest renting folding chairs in addition to your dining room/ office chairs and create rows with aisles that face the “stage.” They cost about $1 each and really make people feel like they are at a fabulous venue.
- 10 small candles, (tea-lights are the best), go a long way to creating the perfect show ambience in your living room
How many people will fit in your living room?
- I take up approximately a 6X9 foot space
- A 12 ft. x 20 ft. room can fit 30-35 people
- A 14 ft. x 14 ft. room can fit 25-30 people
- A 20 ft. x 18 ft. room can fit 40-30 people
- A 20 ft. x 25 ft. room can fit 55-60 people
